Knowledge Based Summary Distance Learning Courses
The University of Derby Diploma in Quarry Technology is the UK extractives industry standard “knowledge based” management qualification and helps the candidate on the road to competency in their chosen discipline. This qualification utilises key quarry operational units from the Diploma, reference to UK legislation and regulation is embedded as “best practice”. This is a one year distance learning course aimed at Mining Engineers transferring to surface extraction; quarry managers with knowledge but limited qualifications or industry manufacturers/ suppliers. This course is designed for anyone who wants to progress their career in construction or construction materials.It is aimed at technicians and technologists who are seeking formal recognition of their experience, and other people who want to broaden their knowledge in this field. This course is ideal for anyone who wants to progress their career within the construction industry and in particular the ready mixed concrete arena. The course consists of 1 module taken over 8 months. The candidate may progress onto the Certificate of Achievement in Concrete Technology as this course provides Approved Prior Learning. The aim of the Certificate is to enable candidates to gain knowledge and practical understanding of sampling and testing methods and the procedures that are used to determine the characteristics of aggregates.
